Back from the boonies.

Well, I, no seriously.  This was the.worst. car trip I've taken with Thad.  In the last few weeks he's hit about a bazillion milestones and has no desire to be strapped in his car seat for a few errands around town, let alone for 2.5 hours.  After two stops, ice water (in a cup and a bottle), walking around, cuddles, and lots of praying, we finally made it back to my parent's house.  It was a long ride.

The hubs stayed here since he had to work, so it was just me and the little man.  While it was nice to visit my parents and some of my extended family, I can't say I have any desire to strap Thad down again any time soon.  Oh, lol, sorry!  The reason for the whole trip?  My grandma (and only living grandparent I have left) just turned a whopping 87 years old!  Yeah, on top of that, she's had 9 open heart surgeries (yes, you read that right, 9), breast cancer, diabetes, and some kind of sinus crap that they had to cut open her forehead and scrape out years ago.  Seriously, I'm not sure how she's the last grandparent I have, but I'm thankful she's here!

On another note, I just want to wish a very fabulous Happy First Father's Day to my wonderful husband!  You are amazing!

Well, I'm off to pick up the house, start some laundry, do some dishes, etc., etc., etc.

Ask me tomorrow how much I actually got done. ;)

It's always courageous taking a young child on a long car ride, especially by yourself. Been there, done that. Kudos to you mom! It's good that you got a chance to see your family. It's so important to stay connect.
I too have only one grandprent alive and she's 78. She's gone through so much and I'm glad she's still with us. We are so blessed. I look forward to reading more.

  7. awh, your grandma has been through so much! what a tough cookie! happy birthday to her! i know alllll about those car rides; my son has cried HYSTERICALLY for THREE STRAIGHT hours before. and on a separate trip, TWO STRAIGHT HOURS. actually we have lots of stories like that so we keep lots of earplugs in the car. it is just horrible. i am pretty much limiting trips to 30 minutes or less these days unless i want a migraine.

  8. Awww your family -- immediate and extended -- is LOVELY!

  9. I know all about those car rides. My daughter and I bravely put 3 kids (2,6,10) in the back of a car and traveled to Indiana from Florida.
We did pretty good and the two year old actually got back in the car to go home (which I was worried about happening)
Visiting you from Mom blog Monday
Following you via GFC and now Facebook too.

  10. Happy B-day to your Grandma.

Car rides are so hard with the little ones. I usually wait to go until it's nap time so Jake can sleep.

    Welcome back!
Happy Father's day to your hubby!

Thanks for the comment love!
